Wendy has been a professor in Human Kinetics at Okanagan College since January 2007. Wendy was born and raised in Kingston, Ontario and moved to British Columbia in 1996 to begin her career teaching at the post-secondary level. Wendy enjoys connecting her work experiences as a kinesiologist and a volleyball coach with academic theory in the classroom. She is a lifelong learner and is currently studying the relationships between physical activity and community/mental health, as well as physical literacy in children and long-term athlete development. An educator at heart, she has been developing HKIN curriculum to engage college students via multimodal communication, service learning and authentic assessment. After spending more than 20 years as a competitive athlete (track & field, basketball and volleyball), her active lifestyle now includes yoga, fitness training, golf, skiing and outdoor recreation with her family.
