The City of Kelowna and PacificSport Okanagan are pleased to recognize and honour athletes and sport leaders/volunteers for their outstanding contributions to sport in our community. This year will continue to focus on those who demonstrated: excellence, leadership, and innovation within their sport(s) for the 2024 Community Sport Hero Awards.

We are recognizing Community Sport Heroes who made a significant impact within sport in the past year. This is your chance to nominate that special athlete or sport leader/volunteer who had an outstanding achievement or made an invaluable contribution to the sport community in 2023. Perhaps they turned their efforts to helping others? Maybe they tried something new and innovative? Or perhaps they took extraordinary steps to keep our communities safe and connected?  Whatever the case, this is an opportunity for you to recognize those who went “above & beyond” in 2023.

Awards will be featured February, 7th 2024 at the Rotary Centre of the Arts, and recipients will be presented with a commemorative plaque and gift to mark this achievement.

Nomination Categories:

Athlete Award

As mentioned above, this is not restricted to athletic performance in a typical fashion – it may have meant community service, exceptional training adaptation, or an athletic achievement despite challenging circumstances.

Volunteer / Sport Leader Award
Awarded to a Kelowna-based outstanding volunteer or coach who has demonstrated exceptional resiliency and innovation in challenging times. Individuals who showed outstanding leadership and a commitment to athlete and sport safety and development, despite these difficult restrictions on our sector.
